His works are published by Concord Publishing/Boosey & Hawkes and he works out of his own custom-built studio in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.

I very much enjoyed listening to my favorite classical recordings on the 99Classics. They gave an extra oomph and dramatic impact on music that I've heard many times before. I even did a little mixing on them, and I have to say the bass frequencies translated very well to other systems. And of course, it goes without saying that the headphones themselves look absolutely gorgeous. So much so, in fact, that I was able to sneak them into the opening shots of my music video for 'Sogno di Volare'.

Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen

Breton-born artist Yann Tiersen has been involved in music for most of his life. He started learning piano at the age of four, took up violin at the age of six and received classical training at musical academies in Rennes, Nantes and Boulogne. Then, at the age of 13, he chose to alter his destiny, breaking his violin into pieces, buying a guitar and forming a rock band.

Growing up in Rennes gave Tiersen the perfect musical education in the form of the city’s annual Transmusicales festival, seeing acts like Nirvana, Einstürzende Neubaten, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The Cramps, Television and Suicide. When his band broke up a few years later, instead of hunting for some new musicians, he bought a cheap mixing desk, an eight-track reel to reel, and started recording music solo with a synth, sampler and drum machine, poring over the grooves of old records on the hunt for loops and orchestral strings to plunder.

“One day I thought, instead of spending days on research and listening to tons of records to find the nearest sound of what I have in mind, why don’t I fix this fucking violin and use it?” Through the summer of 1993, Tiersen stayed in his apartment, recording music alone with guitar, violin and accordion, guided not by the classical canon, but by intuition and his vision of “a musical anarchy”.

By the end of the summer of 1993, Tiersen had recorded over 40 tracks, which would form the bulk of his first two albums. 1995’s La Valse Des Monstres, inspired by Tod Browning’s Freaks and Yukio Mishima’s The Damask Drum, was followed six months later by Rue Des Cascades, a collection of short pieces recorded with toy piano, harpsichord, violin, accordion and mandolin. Six years later, the record would find a much larger audience when several tracks, along with music from Le Phare, would be used on the soundtrack to Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s film Amelie (2001).

Tiersen’s commercial breakthrough would come earlier, though, and off his own back. 1998’s Le Phare (The Light House) was recorded in self-imposed seclusion on the isle of Ushant (located 30 kilometres off the west coast of Brittany in the Celtic Sea), where Tiersen spent two months living in a rented house.

At night, he watched the Creach’h, the most powerful lighthouse in Europe, as it illuminated the surrounding scenery. Le Phare went on to sell over 160,000 copies, confirming Tiersen’s status as one of the most pioneering and original artists of his generation and commencing a run of successful albums like 2001’s L'Absente (featuring orchestral group Synaxis, Lisa Germano and the Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon) and 2005’s Les Retrouvailles (with guests Stuart Staples of Tindersticks, Jane Birkin and Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins).

I was surprised by how high quality the sound is on the 99 Classics for such a modest price. I’ll be bringing my pair on tour for personal listening on the bus.

Connect with Yann Tiersen:

In this period, Tiersen also took his music out around the world, playing shows with a full orchestra and an amplified string quartet – a set-up captured on 2002’s electrifying live album C'etait ici. Tiersen then went on to create scores for the likes of Wolfgang Becker’s tragicomedy Good Bye Lenin! (2003) and Tabarly (2008), a documentary about the French sailor Éric Tabarly, who ate his final meal on Ushant before meeting a watery end in the Irish sea. In 2010 he signed to Mute and released the first of a series of album with more of a band presentation.

Dust Lane introduced synthesisers to his recordings, “I have always tried to incorporate vintage electronic sounds that I liked in my music but for the exception of the [early electronic keyboard] Ondes Martenot, it never happened until Dust Lane.”

The Ken Thomas produced album Skyline (2011) followed, continuing his collaborative work with appearances from Ólavur Jákupsson, Peter Broderick and Efterklang, to name but a few and in 2014 he released Infinity (2014), an album that built upon toy piano recordings, electronically manipulated to provide a base for the rest of the instrumentation, “a constant back and forth from acoustic to electronic to electric to digital, back to analogue. Then all back the other way.”

2016 saw Tiersen’s first solo piano release, EUSA, a move into more minimalist contemporary sounds showing the continuation of Tiersen’s diversity. The album gave a musical map of Ushant, the island he has called home for the past several years, with electronically manipulated original field recordings of the natural sounds on the island creating subtle drone that runs throughout. This was followed in 2019 by ALL, recorded at his newly built studio on Ushant, an album that further explores our connection with nature, place and his love of language. In 2019, he revisited some of his catalogue with a collection of 25 newly recorded tracks from throughout his career.

Portrait featured collaborations with John Grant, Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals, Stephen O’Malley from Sunn O))), and Blonde Redhead. Portrait gave Tiersen a chance to open a new chapter in his work with Kerber (2021), his most overtly electronic material to date. True to Tiersen’s nuanced and subtle approach, this isn’t a U-turn-like thumping piece of dance music but instead a beautifully textured, highly immersive and thoughtfully constructed electronic world to step inside of. It is both an evolution of what has come before, as well as a new space to explore. On the new album, the piano is the source, but electronics are the environment that they exist within.

Tiersen explains, “You may get this intuitive thinking of, ‘oh it's piano stuff’, but actually it's not. I worked on piano tracks to begin with but that's not the core of it, they are not important. The context is the most important thing - the piano was a precursor to create something for the electronics to work around.

I had the pleasure of trying out the new 99Classics while mixing an upcoming Rock album. I was looking for a pair of headphones that not only had amazing low end but helped me get past the Audiophile presentation a lot of headphones impart. What these buggers do is give me the extension and the presentation I want that reminds me of almost mixing on speakers. I want a real world presentation that reflects my environment. Plus, they look incredible. I can wear them for hours!

Estas Tonne – a musician with strong and bright expressive power who breaks the rules of contemporary show-business, a musician whose music is not a goal, but a tool that can liberate human capacity for cognition of ourselves, as well as the surrounding reality. By traveling to countless countries and places, Estas Tonne finds himself in several cultural references without identifying himself with a single nation or country, rather with the cultural richness of the world. His music is, therefore, a reflection of many approaches. A fusion of classical structure, technique of Flamenco, roots of Gypsy, characteristics of Latin and Electronic Soundscape - all this variety of styles flowing into each other almost unnoticed and showing up as surprises in a harmonious structure of sound - is reaching out differently in each performance, yet always in unique form and melody.

Great thanks Meze Audio for crafting these gorgeous headphones. The sound and look is just perfect. Yet if you have a long hair I suggest to tight it well as you may intangle a bit with Meze Audio :)

Jack Orbin has promoted and produced nearly every major concert act, from pop and rock-n-roll to country and jazz in venues of all sizes in the Southwest for the past 38 years. If those bona fides weren’t enough, it was Orbin who famously posted bail for Ozzy Osbourne after the Prince of Darkness was arrested in 1982 for allegedly urinating on the Alamo, and almost single-handedly earned San Antonio the designation of “Heavy Metal Capital of the World” during the hard-rockin' ‘80s. Stone City Attractions was opened by Orbin in 1972 and has remained fiercely independent in the 47 years since, with the philosophy “The Music and the Fans Come First,” according to Orbin. Additionally, Jack is an active member of the San Antonio Alamodome Advisory Sub-Committee and has been awarded their prestigious Humanitarian Award multiple times.

A lot has changed for CHVRCHES in the past few years. When the Glaswegian trio wrote and recorded their debut, The Bones Of What You Believe (2013), no one had heard of them. The three members (Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry) came together with the idea of working on a writing project together, unsure of what path that would take. There were no pre-existing ideas of what the record would or should be like, no pre-conceptions, and nothing to live up to – just three people in a basement studio in Glasgow making music they believed in. The Bones of What You Believe went on to sell over 500,000 albums worldwide. The band enjoyed critical success, with accoladed coming from Pitchfork, Spin, Rolling Stone, Q, NME, and many more. They made their debut on US TV, performing on Jimmy Fallon and then went on Kimmel, Letterman and Carson Daly. They’ve clocked in 364 shows in 2 years, selling out venues across the world and making signature appearances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Lollapalooza, Australasia's Laneway Festival, Reading & Leeds, Summer Sonic in Japan and myriad others before retiring back into the studio for another go.

The Meze 99 Classics are very impressive headphones. The build feels very high quality and sturdy yet surprisingly light and comfortable to wear for long periods. The sound is warm but tight in the low end and crisp and detailed in the high end. They feel like they belong in a higher price bracket.

After the success of their first album, CHVRCHES returned to the same hometown studio that had housed them during the recording of their first LP, their basic goal to shut off the outside world and get back to what they know best: writing. Made in CHVRCHES’Alucard Studios –a converted three-bedroom flat on the south side of Glasgow – Every Open Eye offers an alternative approach in a climate of music written by committee or the same handful of well-known songwriters, going back to the idea that a band can write, record and produce their work entirely by themselves. Using some ideas the band had recorded in venues during their time on the road as a starting point, the band found riffs, loops, and melodies they wanted to develop or started from scratch on the synths, pads, and machines they had been gathering in their basement to create the instrumentals of the songs. Vocal melodies were developed as the songs took shape with the lyrics added last, developed from words and sentences from notebooks Mayberry had kept on tour. Musically, Every Open Eye seeks to do more with less. To make big sounds without racking up endless tracks within Cubase sessions. To make something intense and urgent and visceral, using the basic tools of melody, rhythm, and arrangement rather than the mentality that ‘more is more’. Sonically, Every Open Eye develops CHVRCHES’ signature style, juxtaposing the light and the dark, creating their own brand of twisted pop music that uniquely merges the organic with the electronic, molding sounds and ideas forged over two years on the road into an electronic-pop record with a heart. Lyrically, Every Open Eye is not a break-up album. It is a record about past heartbreaks and getting over them (‘Leave A Trace’). About perspective and the benefit of hindsight. About being unapologetic and not being told what to do or who to be (‘Bury It’, ‘Never Ending Circles’, ‘Playing Dead’). About moving onto better things, holding onto the good, and letting go of the bad (‘Down Side Of Me’, ‘Clearest Blue’, ‘Afterglow’).Mixed by Spike Stent and mastered by Bob Ludwig, Every Open Eye was released on September 25, 2015, via Glassnote / Virgin.

In this modern age of music, genres blend together as naturally as the river flows into the sea. With the expansive library of all the music of the world from every time period at our fingertips, creative artists seem to be more and more liberated from the archaic mentality of being pigeonholed into one genre or demographic. Mike Love is at the forefront of this movement. With a foundation rooted in the spirituality and message-based music of Reggae and Rastafari, he blends the sounds of progressive and classic rock, pop, R & B, soul, blues, flamenco, jazz and so much more. Healing is at the core of his music. With ever-evolving live performances, Love keeps his organically grown fanbase returning again and again to witness the evolution of tried and true fan favorites, and the ever-expanding repertoire of new music that is constantly surfacing. Fans often leave live performances remarking about how they have just been to church, or had a bad day turned around.

Whether I'm working in the studio or just listening to music, they are nice and balanced with a lot of warmth and a nice clear high end that's not fatiguing when I'm doing marathon sessions. They're affordable but not cheap, and they are very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. They look great too!

That same year, he recorded Low Roar’s self-titled debut in his Reykjavik kitchen. Quietly building buzz, he cut the critically acclaimed follow-up, 0, in a converted garage during 2014, before going on to grace the stages of Eurosonic, Airwaves France, The Great Escape, ATP, Lowlands, Iceland Airwaves and beyond. Along the way, iconic Japanese video game creator Hideo Kojima [Metal Gear] heard Low Roar’s 0 playing while visiting a record store in Reykjavik. Smitten with the sounds, the video game legend requested a personal meeting with Ryan in Los Angeles as Low Roar’s “ I’ll Keep Coming” and“ Easy Way Out” soundtracked the two high-profile 2016 trailers for Kojima’s Death Stranding video game starring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and director Guillermo del Toro. Between everything, Ryan spent most of 2016 by himself—traveling everywhere from Iceland, Sweden, and Poland to the Bay Area and Mexico before settling permanently in Warsaw. During this time, he carefully assembled what would become his third full-length record, Once In A Long Long While, out via Nevado Music.

The 99 Classics are exceptional headphones. Not only do they look amazing with a very sleek design, the wooden finish offers a very luxurious and modern touch to the headphones. I was especially impressed by the quality; its durable construction and ability to block out external sounds while maintaining a crisp and even sound ensure very easy listening. The 99 Classics are easily one of the most comfortable headphones I have owned, and I was very impressed by the variety of cords that are included. I am certain that I will be using these headphones for many more years to come.

Alice Phoebe Lou’s fiercely independent approach to her music has given the singer-songwriter a creative confidence that shines through in her captivating vocals and stripped back music. Having developed her bluesy, folk sound busking on the streets of Berlin, Alice has caught the ears of a community of music lovers the world over with her honest storytelling and raw, beautiful voice. She self-released her first full-length studio album in April 2016. "Orbit" comprises nine jazz-influenced, eclectic tracks recorded between Cape Town and Berlin that encapsulate the freshness of her lifestyle, vagabond spirit and showcase her distinctive, soprano voice. Produced by Matteo and Kyson, the album is a testament to Alice’s collaborative way of writing and features musicians from South Africa and Europe lending their musical skills and different visual artists producing artworks to match each track. The result is an intricately woven pattern of the soul, blues, and jazz: scattered with retro, beatnik melodies; soothing vocal harmonies and sleazy brass flourishes.

Lightweight and soft like clouds on my ears, the meze headphones are an immersive and very satisfying listening experience, both professionally and for day to day use.

    Alexandru Andries

    Alexandru Andries

Alexandru Andrieș is a multi-talented Romanian musician, composer, performer, lyricist, graphic artist, and architect, renowned for his contributions to the realms of music, poetry, and acting. Born on October 13, 1954, in Brașov, to very kind parents who 'didn't want to spoil his childhood,' they allowed him to choose his path—whether to sing, paint, or pursue both.

He opted for the latter, on the condition of attending a regular school rather than a specialized one. He began schooling in the Tractorul neighborhood where he lived with his parents, then entered the prestigious "Andrei Șaguna" High School (considered the best in Brașov), and later pursued Architecture studies in Bucharest, successfully getting in on his first attempt.

During those years before being admitted to Architecture in 1974, he never imagined that he would end up singing, releasing numerous albums, and performing on stage over 4,000 times. While he used to sing at home, his dream was to pursue painting and graphics.

However, a strange incident completely changed his destiny and shattered his dreams. When he was in kindergarten, he created drawings for an international contest, and those drawings won the first prize worldwide, which included a scholarship to the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Regrettably, the child of a party activist's friend took his place. This event led him to choose Architecture instead.

In 1974, he arrived in Bucharest as a first-year student and, naturally, frequented the famous "Club A," where great stars of folk, pop, and student rock would perform. Encouraged by the club's directors and pushed by friends and colleagues, he performed for the first time in public. Recognizing the audience's appreciation, he continued to perform regularly. His music spans genres from blues, rock-and-roll, and jazz to folk, and his lyrics always narrate a story, whether the theme is political, social, about love, or even divorce.

His concert debut took place in 1979 at the Jazz & Rock Festival in Brașov with the band Basorelief, and in 1984, his first album "Interioare" was released by "Electrecord," standing as one of the most beautiful albums in Romanian pop history. Beyond music, he is a lecturer and holds a doctorate from the "Ion Mincu" Institute of Architecture. He is a member of the Union of Architects of Romania (since 1980), the Union of Writers of Romania (since 1994), the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania (since 1994), and the Association of Journalists in Romania.

On December 10, 2004, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit in the rank of Knight by the President of Romania, Ion Iliescu. Throughout his career, he has released several critically acclaimed albums, each showcasing his versatility as an artist and earning him a dedicated fan base. Beyond his musical accomplishments, Andrieș ventured into the realm of poetry, where his writings exhibited a profound understanding of the human condition, societal issues, and the power of introspection. His poetry resonated with audiences, further cementing his position as a multifaceted artist of immense talent. In addition to his musical and literary ventures, Alexandru Andrieș made a notable impact in the world of theater and film. His foray into acting demonstrated his versatility and commitment to the craft. His performances on stage and screen were praised for their emotional depth and authenticity, earning him critical acclaim and awards for his contributions to the performing arts. Throughout his illustrious career, Andrieș remained a staunch advocate for artistic freedom and social justice, using his platform to address pertinent issues facing Romanian society.

His activism and artistic endeavors were intertwined, making him a respected and influential figure within and beyond the artistic community. With his warm demeanor and unwavering dedication to his craft, Alexandru Andrieș has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Romania. His legacy continues to inspire aspiring artists and music enthusiasts alike, leaving behind a body of work that will be cherished for generations to come.

PAUL: "My first encounter with Meze Audio's headphones was visual: I stumbled upon a photo online and was immediately captivated by their unique design, setting them apart from what I was accustomed to. They boast meticulously crafted details, intriguing materials, and a sophisticated color composition. When I had the privilege of trying them on, courtesy of Meze Audio's generosity, I quickly realized that their appeal wasn't solely derived from a distinctive design that merely 'sells' any type of sound. I found myself genuinely impressed by the expansiveness and precision of the audio, the absence of artificial elements utilized by some manufacturers to inject additional 'flavor' into the end product, and notably, the clarity spanning the entire frequency spectrum—from the lows to the mids and highs—while preserving the authenticity of the original sound. Of course, you needn't solely rely on my assessment; I encourage you to experience them for yourselves. I'm confident that once you do, you'll find yourself in agreement with my sentiments!!!"

I really love my 99 classics. They are visually so beautiful, I love the walnut with gold and black touches. The balance of wood and metal creates a combination of strength with a more delicate looking finish. I love that they don't look like anything else out there. They come with different options of chord lengths, which is also awesome, and the chords are covered in beautifully woven material with gold touches. Most importantly, they sound clear and vibrant. The ear pads are the most comfortable I've ever experienced with headphones. My 99 classics arrived just in time to write new music with them, and I am so excited to use them.

Benjamin is born in January 1981, a strangely frosty day that already felt like science fiction (at least that’s what his parents said). He grew up close to his loved ones, learning about the world day by day, writing as a novelist what it could become or what those we can’t yet reach should be. Using inner concepts and futuristic sounds as the voice of his music, computers are friends he’s dealing with any second of his life. His whole creative process is built on experimenting: catching accidents through a strange energetic matrix, transforming that in his own universe, then releasing incomparable scores. In a world of images, he definitely sees sounds. He uses feeling and instinct to interpret noises, recognizing the musical potential of every object around him and using it as an instrument not invented yet. He is the architect, the one who traces his vision between lines and bars, always searching through space ways to bring « stellarity » in music. Definitely a gold miner, a dynamiter within the process, looking for boldness and new territories to be explored Benjamin is the blender within both talents of the couple is crushed, ground and pruned in order to deliver all its sap, all its expanse and essence.

And finally, Meze manage to run the entire circle! Mia is born in November during a strange Fall of 1984, growing in life trying to create a future far from the damned figure of her birth year. Learning guitar, bass guitar and computers she fell in love with cinema (she studied at high school) and Pop music (she experimented on french stages). DNA creator: The quintessence of a sensibility that draws the outline of shade and light. Tied to the feelings’ complexity and to the never-ending range of sounds to be deployed in order to be translated, the french freed composer constantly looks for new means to surprise. Her work is like an infinite film that spread on the scores of her creations, full of audacity and discoveries. The requirement of elegance as an oath. Biologic sound is running through her veins. This emotional creator makes no compromise on both form and content. She is the woman of textures, layers, and production tricks. A composer who’s committed to the truth in the purity of emotion to redraft.

I came home half drunk and saw them laying there, opened the box and listened to The Smith's 'there is a light and it never goes out' with a spliff on the couch. Look. If you can make that song sound even better than you got me baby. And they sounded just as good the next morning. I love these things. Totally amazing product. Born in Moscow, Russia, Igor Presnyakov studied classical music at a nearby academy and would eventually graduate as both a guitarist and a conductor for ensembles. He relocated to the Netherlands to further his career, which has now spanned over 35 years. His unique acoustic guitar-style is influenced by various musical genres from Reggae, Rock and Roll, R&B, Country-western, Jazz and Heavy Metal. His most noticeable attribute is his creative style of "beating" the percussion of the song, onto the body of his acoustic guitar while playing. This replicates the sound of multiple musicians, while only Igor is playing. Igor also rarely sings any of the lyrics to any kind of song that he covers, and instead skillfully translates them into a guitar melody, having his instrument sing the words.

What I like about them in particular is how they are built - very solid, yet very light and comfortable. They sound very professional and I've tried many different types of headphones throughout the years yet these are definitely standing out. I can hear every little detail clearly, the bass is amazingly strong. Highly recommended!

A long and winding road led Ariana Savalas from attending a Catholic convent school, to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art studying Shakespeare in London, to burlesque stardom and gaining international fame as a renowned songwriter, cabaret queen, and one of the founding members of vintage phenomenon, Postmodern Jukebox. Her collaborations with Postmodern Jukebox, timeless in a way that parallels her own original music, have garnered hundreds of millions of views online and repeatedly reached #1 on the iTunes charts. She’s traveled the world on tour, from Vienna to Singapore, performing for the masses in legendary venues such as Radio City Music Hall, The Greek Theater, and the O2 in London. A singer, songwriter, dancer, and multi-instrumentalist, the PMJ princess has solidified herself as the musical burlesque queen and the mistress of the modern Moulin Rouge. With the release of What Do You Wanna Know, Savalas delves into the intensely glamorous, operatic rock depths of her songwriting artistry. The dramatic, one of a kind collection of vibrant, cabaret rock songs written by Savalas is reminiscent of alt-pop legends such as Robbie Williams, Annie Lennox, Queen, and Bowie, while simultaneously harkening to the colorful burlesques which formed her life and career. Savalas called upon her longtime dear friend, legendary UK producer Steve Power (Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue), to bring the anthemic production of her single to life.

I couldn't ask for a richer, more beautiful headphone to listen to my new album on. They sound just as beautiful as they look, and they look phenomenal.

Nick is a mixing and mastering engineer located outside of Chicago. He started engineering roughly 15 years ago, beginning with documenting his own music as a multi-instrumentalist and eventually progressing to recording and producing regional artists. Over the course of a decade Nick played drums, bass, and guitar in various groups around Chicago, as well as trumpet and french horn. These formative years as an active musician helped inform and shape the engineer he has become. Today, he focuses on mixing and mastering, connecting with artists both local to Chicago and internationally. His passion for audio has garnered him hundreds of glowing testimonials from artists thrilled with his work, as well as the ‘Top Rated Seller’ accolade on the Fiverr marketplace.

Meze Audio’s Elite headphones are simply a joy to use. The sound is very well balanced, exhibiting a healthy amount of bass and sub information without being overbearing or cartoonish. The top-end is very musical and does an excellent job accurately representing sibilance and transient material. Paired with a beautiful recording, the soundstage presented by these headphones has a depth I have not heard in other headphones before. To top it off, these are undoubtedly one of the most comfortable pair of cans I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. I can emphatically recommend these to any audio professional or music lover.

Rabea (pronounced ra-bee-ah – “Bea” for short) was saturated with music from a very early age. As soon as he could walk, Rabea was smashing away on a drum kit. At primary school he formed his first band, playing drums, aged 7. He has since taught himself several instruments and has found that his real passion lies in guitar. He has been playing guitar for 8 years and has packed many years of composing, studio and gigging experience in this short time.

The most impressive element of about the Meze headphone range having tried a lot of them, is thT there is no compromise to the sound. Whichever models I use, I can get clear sound, precise highs, warm and supported low end response. This is hugely important to me personally, and to top it off, the products themselves look amazing. My 99 classics go everywhere with me now, and I feel comfortable wearing them, along with really hi fidelity sound. Thanks Meze for supporting musicians with great quality sound products!

    Connect with Rabea:

From playing drums, Rabea has adopted a strong sense of rhythm and uses this skill to execute his tight funk driven style. Influenced by many great musicians including Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Joe Satriani, and Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, alongside smaller influences such as John Petrucci and Steve Vai, Rabea’s eclectic taste shines through when playing his guitar.

Rabea has now embarked on a new approach to the music industry by attending the Academy Of Contemporary Music to push his musical and creative output as far as possible alongside his fellow bandmates. Through this, he has gotten involved in several big projects. Alongside working with Rob Chapman to form the band Dorje, who have entered into the rock/metal music scene with a punch, Rabea is also working with 2-time superbike world champion James Toseland who is about to record his debut album.

Rabea has made a promise to himself to never work in an office again, and it looks like he won’t have to with his musical ventures ahead!

Vök (Icelandic word for "polynya") are an electronic dream-pop band based in Reykjavik. Vök first gained recognition within months of forming, when they won Iceland's prestigious MusÌktilraunir (e: Music Experiments), a battle of the bands' contest where past winners include Mammút, Of Monsters And Men and Samaris. Their triumph soon led to the recording and release of their debut EP Tension through Icelandic label Record Records - to a slew of positive and glowing reviews. Soon after they became a four-piece they began to further mark themselves out as rising innovators of smart, atmospheric jams, on their second EP, Circles. Hailed by Noisey as "channeling the Beach soundtrack via 1980s synth pop and the modern sexiness of The Knife", the Circles EP won them even more positive praise and key tastemaker support. After playing shows and festivals in Europe, winning many new fans along the way with their brand of dreamy electronics with melodic vocals, the band soon caught the attention of Nettwerk Music Group, who instantly signed them for an international record deal. April 2017 saw the release of their highly anticipated debut LP Figure to critical acclaim. Produced by Jack Garrett collaborator Brett Cox, The Line of Best Fit hailed it a "brilliant debut album.

As a producer/engineer what struck me first about the 99 Classics was the flat, accurate frequency response. It’s important I’m monitoring my production or mix as true as possible, without any frequencies behind hyped. My name is Eiro Nareth. I’m a guitar player, composer and YouTuber from Russia. From the early childhood I loved painting and making all kinds of things off of wood, plasticine and even lead. There always had been an old guitar at home, so I messed around with it sometimes. In 2009, when I quit video games, the guitar became really captivating for me, and since then I’ve never given up playing. I’m entirely self-taught. A year later in 2010, I started a YouTube channel where I posted acoustic covers of my favourite songs. I learned other people’s fingerstyle arrangements first, but later I started to write my own ones. Also, I composed some tunes with a looper and electric guitar, but I never posted them. In 2015, when I was studying at university, I deleted that channel and created a new one with a horse head, ancient web camera and a $17 microphone. Just for fun. In addition, by that time I had a lot of my own fingerstyle arrangements that I wanted to release. Later, the YouTube channel became one of my main occupations, and I quit the university. In December 2018, I released my debut single, “Observe”, and in February 2020, my album, “Navigation” came out. Now, I’m working on my next album.

I have 99 Classics, and I think I would get them just for their looks - solid design, natural wood, metal - very eye-catching thing. But of course, besides the appearance, these headphones are really good as a studio tool or a device for everyday use.

Rakhi Singh is very much a violinist for the 21st Century, working well beyond the role of a traditional performer. Not only an expressive and virtuosic performer, Singh’s musicality is expressed as an instrumentalist, a collaborator, a composer and director. She co-founded and co-directs Manchester Collective, an organisation that is leading the way of the future in classical music, she directs their concerts on stage in lieu of a conductor and is heavily involved in the programming and curation of their seasons, helping to foster and develop the riches of compositional talent coming through today with world premieres most months and performances across the globe, including their Proms debut in August ‘21. Aside from her work with the Collective where she’s led over 50 concerts between July ‘21 and August ‘22 she has also been performing live with virtuoso pianist Hiromi across Europe and is the chosen violinist of Philip Glass for his Tao of Glass project with the Guardian review of the work being described as the ‘golden playing of violinist Rakhi Singh. Surrounded by constantly inspiring composers and performers Singh has more recently moved further into the world of composition (performing her works herself) and collaboration with and for the likes of Deutsche Grammophon’s Clark, Emmy Award winning composer Michael Price and her collaboration with Vessel and NYX electronic drone choir for New Music Biennial 2022. She also led, consulted upon and performed a multitude of string instruments from creative archaeological recreations of historic instruments, to of course her violin for the critically acclaimed Hollywood film ‘The Northman’, released on April 22. This modern approach to sharing her gift for playing, and opening up its world to others through collaboration, conversation and exploration takes her perhaps a little beyond what would typically be called an instrumentalist - but to open up the world and de-mystify classical music for the worlds beyond the classical cohort.

When recording, particularly work for solo violin with very little space to hide, it’s so important to be able to listen back with utmost clarity to hear how it’ll sound to audiences listening on even the worlds best speakers, even if I’m on the move. The Meze 99 Classics allow me to do just that.

In 2006 he settled for the first time in front of a mixer, and since then he has become responsible for his own and personal style of auditory magic that combines as electronic book music extracted from the history textbooks with sound on the wave or broken from future trends and the technique of mixing with showmanship. His obsessions begin and end with The Prodigy, include Limp Bizkit, New Order, Nirvana, Chemical Brothers or James Zabiela, and among them, he has discovered the perfect mix of Ghetto Funk effervescence, Drum & Bass energy, Dubstep weight, EDM diversity, nostalgia for Breakbeat or Electro and the freshness of Glitch or Trap. Owning the best of the punk continuum, lead vocalist Nathan Hardy will sing, scream and yelp amidst snarling guitar work. While often tipping into the heavier side of resonant punk, the band shines brightest in the soft reservation. Researcher in sound and heretic in the cathedral of contemporary music, the Romanian composer Iancu Dumitrescu creates shock and amazement through the polyphonies of polluted noise. In order to activate the sound, Dumitrescu and his ensemble Hyperion International suspended the traditional instrumental practices by ephemeral, multiphonic overtones, and distortions lost through the standardization of conventional instrumental techniques. The sounds of his music are further enhanced by computerized transformations of instrumental sources or by manipulation in real-time. If Dumitrescu composed a visionary world, he was forced to make pragmatic decisions regarding the interpretation and distribution of his music. His own record label, Modern Edition - reputed to be the first one established after '89 - documents an exciting variety of his work in about 30 CDs, often live-recorded concerts.

Devils Envy (DVLSNV) is an American rock band from Orlando, Florida formed in 2016. The band emerged with a heavy metalcore sound on their debut “Dead Inside EP.” Their first release, “Look at Me Now,” debuted on indie radio, Radio X Rock’s Top 10 Hard Rock charts and stayed there for nearly eight weeks. Since then, they continue to receive support from independent U.S. active rock radio stations and SXM Octane. The band’s style evolved into a heavy metal/hard rock sound by the group’s 5 th release, “Psycho,” which debuted on SXM Octane’s Test Drive. This track pushed the group to new heights and gained respect from some of the band’s hard rock heroes. Feeling confident from a string of successful releases, Angel Graves found himself humming a familiar melody over an original song he’d been working on. That catchy tune turned out to be penned by Billie Eilish and prompted Devils Envy to cover, “You Should See Me in a Crown.” Although unexpected, covering this song gave listeners a glimpse into the unique artistic imagery and intensity that is Devils Envy. Fresh off their appearance at Inkcarceration 2023 in Mansfield, Ohio, Devils Envy continues to write, record, and release new material. Be on the lookout for more new music and tour dates in the near future.

One of the things I most liked was the care for the details. Starting from the packaging, going over the structure and then arriving to the sound. All is well-balanced and great for listening to the most disparate music. Great audio fidelity

Classically trained as a pianist and composer, he has always focused on fusing different musical genres, resulting in memorable songs and productions that stay with you long after the first listen. Music was always a part of Josh’s childhood. He remembers both of his parents playing current and older music, ranging from classical to disco and pop to jazz. At age 7, his two best friends were already studying classical piano and violin, which inspired him to begin taking classical piano lessons. No stranger to working with major label recording artists, in 2008, Josh toured with Grammy award-winning artist, Seal, as his musical director and keyboardist. In both 2007 and 2008, Josh received nominations by the International Dance Music Association (IDMA) for best remixer. Some of his other artist credits include Madonna, Britney Spears, KoRn and The Killers. His corporate clients include MTV, VH-1, NBC, ABC, and Sea World. To date, Josh has authored four courses for Lynda.com and has served as adjunct faculty at Ex’treme Institute by Nelly, where he taught Entertainment and Media Business.

I absolutely love my 99 Classics. Working as a full-time producer and mixing engineer, I look for alternative listening environments that I feel accurately capture the work that I've done in the studio. The 99 Classics give me that and so much more. On my first day using them, I happened to be mixing a song in an unfamiliar studio, and once I checked my mix on the 99's, I knew that my mix was in a very good place.

I enjoy using the 99Classics because of how well-balanced the sound is, and how comfortable it is to wear. I listen to music pretty much all day, so it helps to have a pair of headphones that is not fatiguing to the ears, and that sounds very full and resonant.

His rich, deep playing that blends lyricism with boldness and a sense of surpassing one’s self, has earned him the 13th spot on DownBeat’s 2013 Best Alto Sax Players List.

I have been using both the 99 Classics and the 12 Classics headphones from Meze for the last six months depending on the situation. For intense I love the 99 Classics for recording environment. First, they are closed headphones which make them very sweet. The most important though is the sound quality which makes them my favorite headphones for recording. I only use the 12 Classics on the road to listen to music, and also to listen to my mastering in High Resolution 24 bits 48kh. Honestly and without any pressure whatsoever I recommend these to everyone.

His channel marries his love of percussion with his skills as a tradesman, by building, creating, and repurposing second hand percussion instruments. He gained popularity from posting videos featuring unique drum hacks he has picked up throughout his career. Though, his most popular videos involve him taking an old abused drum and modifying it into something fresh and new. He has a passionate focus to show that modifying music gear is easier than it look and not as scary as it may seem. In his spare time, he enjoys making hip-hop beats, play-along tracks, and creating sample libraries of the drums he has created/modified. Every year he releases a beat tape that showcases the drum sample libraries he has created. You can hear the analog influence in his tracks, which celebrate tape hiss and vinyl crackling. On top of that, when David is not recording himself, he can be found in his home studio recording local bands and rappers.

I have always been picky when choosing headphones. I would go back and forth and use multiple pairs for different listening environments, but as soon as I started to use the 99 Classics they have been my go to pair for just about everything. They are tuned perfectly for my needs. I can sit down and enjoy an album on them, or use them for playing along to a backing track while drumming. Their sound combined with their looks is the reason I continue to use Meze.

Often tagged as this country’s version of Malcolm McLaren—or as Rolling Stone Indonesia put it 'the grandmaster of music propaganda'—a name based on his successes when managing Bali’s two favorite bands, Superman Is Dead and Navicula, both who have become two of the nation’s biggest rock bands. Currently based in Denpasar, and busier than ever, he has published two books; Blantika | Linimasa—the first-ever history of modern music in Bali, and Rasis! Pengkhianat! Miskin Moral!—a biography of Superman Is Dead. A former chairman for non-governmental Dutch-Indonesian music foundation, OneDollarForMusic, he co-founded one of the biggest creative-industry events in Indonesia, Bali Creative Festival, in 2010 and 2011. His two current projects are MBB—Muda Berbuat Bertanggung Jawab and Rudolf Dethu Showbiz. The first is a pluralism forum that he founded due to his concern about religious fundamentalism that is getting stronger amongst Indonesian youth, while the second is about following his passion in music. After quite a long hiatus from managing bands he has discovered some new cool talent and has decided to go back to show business & is currently managing The Hydrant.

Their motto is: “The doctor says rock 'n' roll will do WONDERS for you. That's why we're here.

We’ve tried both Meze 99 Classics Walnut Gold and Meze 99 Neo and we really liked what we heard. The phones are incredible well balanced for live performances and studio work. Also, if you just want to listen to your music, the sound provided by Meze audio phones is very natural, without any digital additives. The band was founded in 2014 when Andrei (vocals, traditional instruments) and Ovidiu (guitars) were involved in the black metal band Prohod as the main project, the two wishing to start a folk metal band. Shortly after, Drago? (bass), Alex (guitar – also bandmate in Prohod, WarChant) and Paul (drums) join. Recently, Edwin (accordion & backing vocals) from WarChant also joined. Sadly, starting June 2016, he is forced to leave the band, due to personal issues, unrelated to the band. As a consequence of this, the very talented Ioana Popescu (keyboards), who is a student at the Brasov Music Academy, joins the band. Roxana is the newest member, “part-time”, her appearance on the stage depending on her other band, Era Divina. She is in charge with the violin and backing vocals, making the band sound complete.

I've been a fan of a good sound quality ever since I've discovered music. Even in my band, I do my best to push the quality to a professional level with all the resources I have. At first, it was the design that attracted to the Meze Audio products, but the quality of the sound made me want to continue using them. I’m a late bloomer as I’ve been starting to develop my passions towards the end of high school/early college days. My primary field of work is concert photography which I began to shoot after moving in in Bucharest as a student. Starting from the local and intense underground scene to the more bigger names in music, I am now in my 4th year of concert photography and I can’t get enough. Alongside music, I also work in the fields of portrait, event and product photography.

When I come back late at night after a concert, I start editing the photos. What I always do when I’m editing is listening to the band that’s in my photos to enter the mood of their music and to transpose it into my pictures. Meze 99 Neo gave me that environment. The crisp sound, the good isolation and the comfortable wear keep me perfectly concentrated and pumped up so my photos can deliver at least a bit of the passion of the music I’m listening to.

Amadeus was born on June 13. 1981 in Basel, as the son of Esther Paulussen and Willi Paul Paulussen and grew up with his three siblings, Jasmin Paulussen, Lilian Kuzuçular and Désirée Henggi in the same city. From age 6 to 13 (between 1987 and 1994) he learned and played the violin at the Rudolf Steiner School/Waldorf education in Pratteln and visited regularly the violin lessons at the music school Basel. At the age of 13 (In 1994), Amadeus came in contact with the then emerging Basler Techno movement, through his sister. To satisfy his newly developed interest in electronic music, he learned to play the keyboard at the Musikhaus & Musikschule Bonvicini in Basel, as an introduction to the use of synthesizers and studio technology. At that time (around 1995), he began to build a small pre-production studio in the basement of his family home. His former equipment included, among others, an Akai S1100, a Korg Prophecy, a Roland JV-90, a Yamaha QS-300 and some analog classics, e.g. a Roland TB-303 or Roland JX-3P. Starting in 1996, he began working on first contracts for events and multimedia applications, through the company of his father W.P.P. expo & event. In order to expand his knowledge, he completed an internship with Daniel Platisa in his Basel based Q-Lab Studio, in the same year.

I finally found my perfect set of everyday headphones. Sonically very well balanced and super fun to listen too. Plus, great build quality, awesome design and vegan! <3 I really like the 99 Classics a lot!

The O 100 / O 800 - monitor system is still in operation today in Kubus Media Studio (2015). He published in 1999, together with Daniel Sgubin (DJ Mystery), a first production in a vinyl small series, on a sub-label of DJ Beat (a Swiss vinyl records-chain): Modular Records. Further vinyl releases did follow, with Tihomir Markovic under the pseudonym Pushing Elementz, under the Basel Label Limiter Records, among others. More vinyl and digital releases followed on with Francesco Cali, under the name Paulussen & Cali on DJ C-Rock’s Label Lo-Fi Stereo. Christian Rindermann (aka C-Rock) published on his label at the time artists like Ricardo Villalobos, Neville Attree, Steve Bug or Motorcitysoul. In the years 2002-2015, as managing director of kubus media, he could perform numerous jobs, along with his team, including Michael Studer among others, in the area of corporate sound for clients such as Swisscom, ALPA, David Klein and Basler Versicherungsgesellschaft. In 2011 he was introduced to the Bern based company PANArt and its instrument, the Hang, through his mother and wife.
