Here the soundstage superiority found with the Meze 99 Classics steals the show, capturing his percussion on "I'm an Old Cowhand," making me remove the headphone to see who was delivering "more" cowbell behind me.

The Meze 99 Classic is a really easy to drive be it a reasonable smartphone, DAP or efficient portable amp, the choice is yours. This is also one of those few headphones that I can have no complaints about with regard to smartphone amping performance ...

INNER FIDELITY | Wonderfully Well Balanced and Fun, Fun, Fun!

99 Classics Walnut Gold are PURE GOLD

Bought solely on looks, beautiful of course and after watching review after review. Trying my best to compare these to the 99 Neo's ... finally went with what visually stimulated me and could not be happier.

These are the MOST COMFORTABLE headphones I've ever worn. I wear glasses and that can be a challenge. These are the best I've experienced as an eyeglass wearer.

I was most worried about the sound ... but these have proven to be warm, round without overhyped bass. I LOVE the sound. I have been listening to them every day since they arrived. I could not be happier with my purchase!

Lifelong Headphones

Love the sound, love the price, love the materials and how I can fix it when it breaks. Very very comfortable on the head but might not fit people with large ears well. Wish the upper parts of the cable where it branches into L and R weren't rubber, but thats a small nitpick. Very happy with these for the price and quality.

Beat headphone under $500 hands down

Well I can literally shelf the following sets that I own now that I have the Meze 99 Classics. The take down was brutal of some of my favorite sets including the HarmonicDyne Athena, Thieaudio Ghost, HifiMan Sundara closed-back, and Focal Elegia. Barely surviving the absolute sonic onslaught brought by the 99s were the Sennheiser Hd660s2 and Moondrop Venus. And it wasn’t like they were “better”, they just have different drivers, tuning and execution. I have had the pleasure of trying the Meze 109 Pros as well and when people told me that the 99 Classics get you at least 90% of the performance, they were not kidding. Suffice it to say that Meze now has my two favorite headphones and it’s not even that close. The crazy thing about the 99 Classics is that they are at least 8 years old. I guess when you get it right the first time, there is no need to mess with it. And I will also say this: if you have given up on headphones because of the difficult price-to-quality ratio, I highly recommend revisiting that with the 99 Classics. This is a headphone for iem lovers as well. It has great presence and immediacy, but still gives you the headphone stage, placement and imaging that you’d expect. Wow. Just wow.
