The sound quality was superb in almost every respect and better than expected in some. The emotional involvement was incredible, the refinement a delight and the soundstage placement remarkable.
Regardless of music genre, we still find the Empyrean II a pleasure to listen to. They have a more overt sonic signature than the likes of The Composer, sounding richer and full-bodied and for the most part easier going once carefully partnered.
The Meze Audio Empyrean II takes a huge chunk of what made the original Empyrean headphones so good such as looks and comfort and integrates a new sound signature that should appeal to a much wider audience than before.
It has a sound character that skillfully balances between bold reference and sheer enjoyment making it an ideal choice for both the discerning audiophiles and the casual listeners alike, especially if we throw the two different ear-pads into the equation.

I stopped using an equalizer because the sound profile is so attuned to my preferences. It's got amazing detail, and a broad soundstage. I would agree with the general reviews that say while it may not excel at any one quality more than a similar headphone, it's an jack of awesomeness for every headphone quality.

Loved the looks and the quality. The sound is great. But still after 14 days of listening to many genres the sound does not live up to the $3,000 dollars pricetag, which is still got me thinking whether to return the item or not. Also great custumer service.
These are my first Meze pair of headphones and I am blown away by design, quality of craftsmanship and exeptional sound. Timbre of accoustic instruments is superb, seperation of instruments top notch. Realy breathtaking experience. On top of that Empyrean II are exeptionally comfortable and every part can be replaced if anything happens.
