Well I can literally shelf the following sets that I own now that I have the Meze 99 Classics. The take down was brutal of some of my favorite sets including the HarmonicDyne Athena, Thieaudio Ghost, HifiMan Sundara closed-back, and Focal Elegia. Barely surviving the absolute sonic onslaught brought by the 99s were the Sennheiser Hd660s2 and Moondrop Venus. And it wasn’t like they were “better”, they just have different drivers, tuning and execution. I have had the pleasure of trying the Meze 109 Pros as well and when people told me that the 99 Classics get you at least 90% of the performance, they were not kidding. Suffice it to say that Meze now has my two favorite headphones and it’s not even that close. The crazy thing about the 99 Classics is that they are at least 8 years old. I guess when you get it right the first time, there is no need to mess with it. And I will also say this: if you have given up on headphones because of the difficult price-to-quality ratio, I highly recommend revisiting that with the 99 Classics. This is a headphone for iem lovers as well. It has great presence and immediacy, but still gives you the headphone stage, placement and imaging that you’d expect. Wow. Just wow.

Beautiful Sound, Excellent Build Quality

I haven't much to say about these headphones other than that I was blown away by them.

They sound clearer and have better instrument separation than my m30x.

They are not only beautiful to look at, but incredibly well made and durable as well. They even come with a hardcase for travel, something that many companies fail to provide.

I do however, have one minor complaint. When using an aux to usb-c adaptor (dongle) the headphones will not be recognized unless I hold the pause button on the cord for a couple seconds, I believe this may be an issue with my specific headphone dongle though as I have had no issues with lightning dongles or when inserting the headphone cable directly into my devices. (The particular error is that my phone recognizes the headphones as a charging cable until the pause button is held for the first time)

We are sorry to hear about this issue with the dongle.
As far as we know this might be caused by the dongle itself or by the mobile phone's protocol.
The latter may be solved by the producer with an update.
Have you tried the dongle on other devices to see whether the issue is replicated?
