LIRIC
MEDIA REVIEWS

The LIRIC II headphones by Meze Audio have left me truly impressed, offering an unparalleled listening experience that resonates with craftsmanship and innovation.

With the LIRIC 2, Meze Audio have built a far better tuned version of the original LIRIC. LIRIC 2 now is warmer, more spacious, more refined, controlled and a lot easier on the ear.

Imaging is extremely good with movements easily tracked and instruments easily pinpointed in space. Layering was also good as well, which makes seating the orchestra straight forward.

The Meze Audio Liric II is a good improvement over the original with a smoother, more coherent, and relaxed sound signature making it a more competitive closed-back planar headphone for a wider range of musical genres.

The Liric II is a very impressive set of headphones and I am not using the term “for a closed back”. If we do put them in comparison with other closed backs, then I can’t think of a pair that I have heard that I feel is superior to these.

The Meze LIRIC II is what every great successor should be: an evolution that discards what doesn’t work, enhances what does, and adds fresh features to create something new and exciting.

The Liric 2 will undoubtedly be my travel companion to various HiFi shows. If you happen to spot a bearded dude sporting these incredible headphones, don’t hesitate to offer a wink, a fist bump, and a warm hello!

The Meze Audio Liric (2nd Generation) absolutely screams “luxury product” right out of the box. Not only do the headphones come with a super-ostentatious case and build, but also some Macassar Ebony paneling on the backs of the earcups that wouldn’t look out of place in a high-end cigar shop.

And at every stage of the frequency range, the headphones dish the details with the enthusiasm of an office gossip. Even the most transient, fleeting and minor occurrences in a recording are picked up and put into the proper context – and where the broad strokes of texture and timbre are concerned, the Liric 2nd Generation is completely convincing

The Liric 2 is an exceptional closed-back headphone that embodies the signature sound of Meze Audio, allowing for an immersive listening experience free from external interruptions.

For anyone seeking a good closed-back option that bridges the gap between audiophile detail and everyday listening pleasure, the new tuning makes a compelling argument.

Once there, performance is excellence and compared with the nice fit (on my head), I found the experience quite enjoyable.

This is definitely the best closed-back set Meze has ever made and, in a vacuum containing only Meze products, would be an easy recommendation.

What strikes me most about Liric 2 is how it just captures the spirit of Meze more than the original did. From the user friendly removable pads, to the warmer sound, and the visual upgrades, it’s not just a better version of Liric, it’s a better Meze Headphone.

Meze Audio did a superb job with the re-tuning of an already great headphone, and it makes me excited for the sonic possibilities ahead for the company. They are at the lead of cutting-edge planar magnetic technology with their partnership with Rinaro.

The Liric II sounds immediately more natural with a more even bass to midrange transition. As it is more articulate, the Liric II sounds just as clear but introduces additional richness into its voicing.

Everything about the high-frequency content on the Liric II shows much character. It’s the kind of response that will make you blink when a track hits hard enough up there, like a detailed snare.

There’s a lot of positive things to say about the Meze Liric II. The elevated low end, reference level midrange, and tightly tailored top end make for a relaxing and refined listen.

At the opposite end, the Meze Audio offer brilliance and substance in pretty much equal measure – there’s bite and shine to treble sounds, but they’re robust enough to avoid any hardness or splashiness.

What I heard from Liric II pretty much fell in line with my expectations for a sealed isodynamic though what went beyond was the fresher more incisive treble which nicely counterbalanced the sub-bass reach and shone light into the thickness of textural density.
