Meze Audio continues to surprise us, and they're doing it again with this headphone, this is the 105 AER, and the 105 AER surprised us.

The proof is ultimately in the listening and we have high hopes that the Meze 105 AER will be a huge hit and great value at $400.

105 AER excels in imaging, offering excellent layering and separation that lets listeners quickly focus on individual elements like instruments and vocals.

105 AER fits perfectly into Meze’s lineup fitting in perfectly between the warm sound of the 99 Classics and the more detailed, refined 109 Pro. Considering the build quality, comfort, and level of performance, the $400 price tag is actually lower than I’d anticipate and makes these a great buy for listeners craving a headphone that balances strong detail with a lush, natural sound.

As you might expect from Meze Audio, the 105 AER is another beautifully designed set of headphones. However, importantly, it achieves a good balance in its sound signature, setting itself apart from many of its competitors by prioritizing versatility and compatibility with lower-powered devices.

The 105 AERs are a comfortable, interestingly designed pair of headphones with great midrange and a bit of extra bass.

I tested the 105 AER with first-person-shooters and racing games. The former heavily taxes the 105’s ability to manage spatial cues and maintain absolute separation, while the latter merely asks the 105 to sound fun, rich and engaging.

From its textured bass to its crisp highs, the 105 AER proves that Meze can maintain its commitment to quality without breaking the bank. Whether you’re a seasoned audiophile or just beginning your journey, these headphones are worth considering.

The resolution of the stage is straightforwardly impressive, and even though the Meze Audio offer plenty of separation they nonetheless present the record as a singular, unified whole.

I’m hard-pressed to find anything I don’t like about the 105 AER’s sound signature, which seems to complement so many music genres, but if I were to pick on one element, it’s the highs.

Detail levels are high at every point of the frequency range, with the 105 AER able to tease out even the most minor and/or most fleeting events in a recording and put them into proper context with just the right amount of weighting.
